Susanne Bouma
Susanne has been counselling since 2001 and loves helping clients get to the 'heart of the matter'. Her warm, caring manner provides a safe environment for this.
She is also a Registered Nurse (Div1) of many years experience and is practising as a district nurse. She is also a registered midwife and a mother of adult children. As a result of a combination of experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist, registered nurse and the experience of family members with cancer, she now has a special interest in clients and their families with major illness or health challenges.
"A major illness or health challenge can be a very stressful time but also a time for re evaluating one's life and beginning a healing journey."
Susanne has worked as a registered nurse on a residential school camp for teenage girls and has also been involved in a leadership role with 'Pathways into Womanhood' and 'Pathways to Manhood'. She has also facilitated support groups and relaxation groups for teenagers.
Due to her experience and understanding of the challenges teenagers face, she also encourages teenagers who have an illness eg cancer, to have counselling and psychotherapy (including art therapy) with her.
As a group facilitator and registered nurse, Susanne will be facilitating the diabetes type 2 prevention program called 'Life' in Cranbourne in 2009.
